This summer's season has coem to an end

11.09.2006 This summer's season has coem to an end. July and August included classes, safaru, classes, technical safari, daily diving, classes, and technical safari. However even though summer season has ended, diving hasn't. Ahead of us are safaris in September, October and December with technical divers from Poland, RuDive, DiveTech, and with people fron Irkutsk. We still hold technical classes and trimix diving. The pool will be opened soon and we will be preparing open-water divers with new powers.

Results of summer season.

The Baikal safari divers list was enriched by nice city of Sevastopl. We enlarged the geography for technical diving too. You can put TDI flags now at Ufa and Nizhnevartovsk. The number of trimix divers in Irkutsk has gone up too. Classes were take in the real condiitons of Baikal's safari. Thankfully weather and visibility were helping us. Even in August both at the north and south we had wonderful water. You could get away without a torch-light even at 100 meters.

We have discovered new dive-sites around Ushkanii Isles, Khomuty, Bolshie Koty and Round Baikal Railroad. We have researched more about old dive-sites and made coordinates more exact. We are still looking for Kolchaks gold. But the dive at 110 meters allowed us to find other wreck pieces of the Kolchak's ship.

In any case it was great!!!

One can quickly lose the skills. The habit to dive from a boat makes you relax. During the last three years, we haven’t had any deep trimix in Listvyanka. Time to catch up! (Gennadi’s comment: “That’s true. All the deep dives in the last three years were made from the safari boats”). And now, it is December again, the freest time to dive “for yourself”. Be it Covid or not, there is a lot of work in summer, as usual. So, the intensive preparation has begun! (Gennadi’s comment: “The idea is to dive VERY deep!”)

The two weeklong “coronavirus” diving safaris in June were technical ones. So, technical diving is always there. BaikalTek is a technical dive center, with Trimix facility TDI & IANTD. However, it does not mean that there is no place for recreation, photography, filming and other kinds of divers. The other way round: we pay attention to everyone’s need and interests, and are ready to accompany you in your diving any time.

The BaikalTek instructors often meet the seals under the ice because they dive often.  A ‘normal’ diver is rarely so lucky. Jean from Switzerland is one of the lucky guys. Though it was his first Olkhon Ice Safari at Lake Baikal, he saw a lot: huge ice shapes, moving ice mass, dancing planaria… and finally, a seal!
