Season of year 2006 is almost over, but ship Myth has just held its first safari

11.05.2006 Season of year 2006 is almost over, but ship "Myth" has just held its first safari. Mostly we had smaller groups, so we've been using such vessels as "Merlin" and "Mars:; or we had extremely big groups which required ships like "Valery". Now, from 1st to 6th of October, we had Plosh group of divers "Nautica", headed by Janusz Solarz There were 8 of them - perfect group for Yaroslavets"
"Myth", even tough it had first safari this season, is not a new ship for us. The deal is that this ship is absolutely reconstructed and redesigned "Vega", which "BaikalTek" has used multiple times in previous seasons. Now "Myth" ("vega") has 2 toilets and showers, and 7 double rooms. It can handle up to 10 people, that's how many can be comfrtably in the common room. In this case, almost all passengers will have their own room. "Myth" has a great dive-deck and nice area for getting into the water. Also it has nice ledder for divers.
Веслав и Януш Polish company "Nautica" is a chain of diving clubs in Warsaw, Krakow, and Gdansk; it has common name and board of directors. There are about 2500 people involved in it now, and it's growing at about 200-300 people per year. Janusz Solarz - is one of the directors of the company, he is 3-star instructor CMAS, intructor DAN, intstructor Tec Trimix PADI. He is both a great instructor and diver. He was Gennady Misan' first instructor for international education system, and Gennady was certified by him in 1988 to three-star CMAS swimer. Although at that time Gennady already was instructor FUS (federation of underwater sports), however soviet qualification system already back then was not counted.
Janusz was planning to dive down to 165 meters at Baikal (before he reached 150 in Norway), but he changed his mind in the last minute, deciding that he is not prepared enough for Baikal (very self-critical decision)
Утром они проснулись Polish group made 2-3 dives a day. Almost everyone was divng with double-tnaks with manifolds. We went on the route "Around Olkhon", also we took part in jeep safari at Olkhon. Obvioulsy we took advantage of banya around Goloustnoe. We got into "gornyashka" (nort-west wind, that brough a lot of emotions. One of the days it snowed - so it ws winter diving. We had sevral hiking trips at Peschanay and Uzury. And the last day at Sibirian land we decided to go to Arshan, ate buryat's pozy, looked at buddhist temple and hiked around amazing river Kyngarga.
Everyone was very happy with the trip. And next one is planned in 2007, with a bigger group and a larger ship, including jeep-safari to mogolianlake Hubsugul, to where you can get from Irkutsk in one day.

One can quickly lose the skills. The habit to dive from a boat makes you relax. During the last three years, we haven’t had any deep trimix in Listvyanka. Time to catch up! (Gennadi’s comment: “That’s true. All the deep dives in the last three years were made from the safari boats”). And now, it is December again, the freest time to dive “for yourself”. Be it Covid or not, there is a lot of work in summer, as usual. So, the intensive preparation has begun! (Gennadi’s comment: “The idea is to dive VERY deep!”)

The two weeklong “coronavirus” diving safaris in June were technical ones. So, technical diving is always there. BaikalTek is a technical dive center, with Trimix facility TDI & IANTD. However, it does not mean that there is no place for recreation, photography, filming and other kinds of divers. The other way round: we pay attention to everyone’s need and interests, and are ready to accompany you in your diving any time.

The BaikalTek instructors often meet the seals under the ice because they dive often.  A ‘normal’ diver is rarely so lucky. Jean from Switzerland is one of the lucky guys. Though it was his first Olkhon Ice Safari at Lake Baikal, he saw a lot: huge ice shapes, moving ice mass, dancing planaria… and finally, a seal!
